I had the privilege to serve on the staff of the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, under the leadership of Dr. Jack Hyles for over 26 years. For over 14 years, Brother Jeff Owens also served with Brother Hyles. During those years, it was obvious that God’s strong hand of blessing was upon all the efforts of Brother Owens.

Brother Hyles often said, “One of the measurements of a great man is what it takes to stop him.” Brother Jeff Owens has proven his greatness many times over. I consider it an honor to count Dr. Jeff Owens as a very dear friend.

I am delighted to endorse Bro. Owens’ new church planting ministry. We desperately need to recover churches that are failing and not lose the buildings and property to the world. We desperately need to reproduce after our kind. Last year about 4,500 Baptist churches closed their doors, and many more changed their doctrine in compromise. Only about 3,000 new churches were started last year. We cannot afford that kind of a deficit! Bro. Owens is one of the hardest working men that I know and has a tremendous character. I know that he does things right, and for that reason, I am excited about the future of this ministry. In my opinion, no man that ever worked for Bro. Hyles, caught his spirit, his vision and his work ethic as did Dr. Jeff Owens. I am excited about this great and needed endeavour by my good friend Bro. Owens.

“I have known Dr. Jeff Owens for over 35 years. He’s a great man who has stayed true to the Old-Time Way. He’s a great soul winner. He’s a tremendous organizer and leader. I’ve pastored the Liberty Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina for 47 years. During this time, he has been a great influence and counselor to me. He leads with compassion and love for all people. Since the time he took the pastorate at the Twin Rivers Baptist Church, he has grown it - and in a Biblical way. He amazes me with his great influence, and he has my full support as he leads this new church planting ministry."
